Kamikaze attacks during the Battle of Okinawa, April 1945. The Japanese committed over 700 aircraft, half of the kamikaze, in the first attack alone. Picket destroyers suffered the worst consequences, with two destroyers and 24 other vessels damaged in that first attack.
